In Seoul, it becomes apparent that his father has disappeared. Sun goes looking for him and finds him in his birthplace, on a polluted tropical
beach… A pitch-black and pessimistic social fairytale with a cathartic experimental ending.

Black Stone is the last part of a trilogy about environmental pollution. The previous films have been screened in Sundance, Locarno, Busan, Berlin and Rotterdam. The main sources of inspiration here are Robert Bresson and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Born before the Civil Rights era, these men have witnessed unbelievable change in their lifetimes, from the Stonewall Riots and gay liberation, to the HIV/AIDS pandemic and Queer Nation, to gay marriage and Lady Gaga, and have lived to become part of an unprecedented “out” elder generation. Before focuses on the lives of these three gay seniors, but reminds us that while LGBT elders face a specific set of issues, aging and its challenges are universal. Set in 1908, Stiff Upper Lips chronicles the adventures of Agnes Ivory (Prunella Scales), a dotty spinster living with her niece Emily (Georgina Cates) in a Victorian gothic monstrosity near a railway stop called Ivory's End. The charm of the mysterious East works its wonders on the six protagonists, who find true love in their own eccentric, very British way-Uncle Horace falling for Aunt Agnes; Cedric and Edward professing their love for each other; and Emily and George finally tying the knot. Prunella Scales and her son, Samuel West, can claim firsthand knowledge of this spoof's accuracy as both acted in Howards End -- as the patrician Aunt Juley and the proletarian Leonard Bast, respectively. In fact, West sees no need to play the upper class for laughs. "The wonderful thing about the British aristocracy in 1910," he told the London Independent, "is that so many of the things they do are ridiculous anyway.
