Regular Guys is a refreshingly witty German comedy that takes a tongue-in-cheek peek at the complexities of relationships - gay, straight and somewhere in-between. Christoph (Christoph M. In 1952 Quebec, Bishop Jean Bilodeau is taking the last confession of an inmate in a prison. The bishop, locked in the confessional, is instead treated to a morality play orchestrated by the inmate and the chaplain of the prison and acted by the hardened inmates at the prison. The play shows the life of the bishop in 1912 when he and the inmate, named Simon Doucette, were fellow students at a Catholic boys school. They were once best friends. Simon and another student named Vallier began a homosexual relationship, one where Vallier was more open about his true feelings. Simon, repressing his feelings, instead began a relationship with a visiting woman named Lydie-Anne, the two who planned to move away from the town once they were married. 'You won't leave me, will you?' Nick asks Brandon shortly after revealing to him the results of his last blood test for HIV. 'I don't want to die alone.' In spite of Brandon's protestations, the two soon find the love they had shared for many years in ruins. One year after their breakup, Nick is confronted with a ravaged immune system and a CT Scan and lab values which, along with his worsening forgetfulness, clenches the diagnosis of Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML) -- a condition he has seen claim his friends and one which he vows will not take him. Due to the aggressive nature of the disease, he has only a few days of conscious life remaining. His plan, he announces to family and 'extended family,' is to voluntarily end his life himself before the disease renders him unrecognizable to those he loves and he, in turn, is unable to recognize them.
