Plot:After a young Naval Aviator (Kevin) is killed in action just days before he was set to be discharged for being gay, his lonely, angry father (Bill) and his partner (Tyler) cross paths. Tyler, also a Navy officer, comes to tell the bigoted Bill the truth about his son, as he too finally begins to be honest with himself. They both struggle with reconciling their individual pasts with Kevin’s enduring legacy, and fight to achieve a most basic need: freedom.

Beautiful Darling, a documentary film, pays tribute to the short but influential life of an extraordinary person -- the actress Candy Darling, born James Slattery in a Long Island suburb in 1944. Drawn to the feminine from childhood, by the mid-Sixties James had become Candy, a gorgeous, blonde actress and well-known downtown New York figure. Candy's career took her through the raucous and revolutionary Off-off-Broadway theater scene and into Andy Warhol's legendary Factory. There she became close to Warhol and starred in two Factory movies that still shock and amuse today: Flesh and Women in Revolt. Candy used her Warhol fame to land further film roles, and her admirer Tennessee Williams cast her in his play Small Craft Warnings. She dreamed of becoming a Hollywood star, but tragically died of lymphoma in the early Seventies, at only twenty-nine.

Candy's beauty, humor, and early death, the guts it took to live as a woman, the glamorous parties and the famous friends -- most of all the strength of will she demonstrated in her remarkable act of self-creation -- moved those who knew her in her lifetime and continue to gather fans today. It's a story of wild, creative times and of audacious people, but one that has a theme inspiring for anyone, anywhere: whatever the obstacles, be true to yourself.

The film uses both current and vintage interviews, excerpts from Candy's own diaries and letters, as well as vintage footage of Candy and friends.

At a family dinner, parents Vincenzo and Stefania Cantone plan on turning over the factory to their two sons, Antonio Cantone and Tommaso Cantone. The younger Tommaso, who has returned home from business school in Rome for this dinner, has his own important news which he plans on divulging at that dinner. Beforehand, he tells Antonio his news. He is not in business school and does not want to run the factory, leaving that to Antonio. Rather, he wants to stay in Rome to be a writer - he has submitted a manuscript of a novel to a publisher - but more importantly that he is gay. Tommaso is certain that their parents will not take any of this news well. But before Tommaso can make his statement at the dinner, Antonio, who has been working at the factory for years, drops his own bombshell of news on the family, which results in Vincenzo disowning Antonio and having a mild heart attack. Tommaso feels that he has no other choice now but to keep quiet, and stay to run the factory while his father recuperates. A visit from Rome by Tommaso's flamboyant gay friends - including Tommaso's lover, Marco - may make life difficult for Tommaso as he tries to balance his priorities in life. Tommaso's paternal grandmother, who started the factory, who is known as the loose cannon of the family and who has a long kept secret of her own, may have her own say in what happens in the family.


Non farti mai dire dagli altri chi devi amare, e chi devi odiare. Sbaglia per conto tuo, sempre. E` il monito che l'anziana nonna rivolge al nipote Tommaso rientrato a casa da Roma deciso ad affermare le proprie scelte personali anche a costo di scontrarsi con la famiglia.
Quella di Tommaso, il figlio minore dei Cantone proprietari di un pastificio in Puglia, e` una famiglia numerosa e stravagante.
In casa c'e` molta attesa per il suo ritorno: la nonna ribelle e intrappolata nel ricordo di un amore impossibile, la mamma Stefania, amorosa ma soffocata dalle convenzioni borghesi, il padre Vincenzo deluso nelle aspettative sui figli, la zia Luciana a dir poco eccentrica, la sorella Elena che rifugge un destino da casalinga, il fratello Antonio da affiancare nella nuova gestione del pastificio di famiglia.
Insieme a loro Alba, la cui strada incrocia professionalmente
quella dei Cantone.
Non mancano pero` sorprendenti rivelazioni e colpi di scena.
Ed anche per questo il soggiorno di Tommaso dovra` protrarsi ben piu` a lungo del previsto...

Cheila comes back from Canada to spend her holidays at the beautiful house she bought to her mother with a lot of effort. She also brings great news: she will finally make her dream true, changing her sex to become “a complete woman.” Cheila will have surgery soon; however she needs her family support.

The once beautiful house is now fully deteriorated and occupied by a chaotic mob of brothers, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Cheila will face hard truths, rethinking the relation with herself and her family and realizing the main problems of her family: lack of love, lack of tolerance and meanness.



Cheila regresa de Canadá a pasar navidades en la hermosa casa que pudo regalarle a su madre con todo su esfuerzo. Trae consigo una gran noticia: por fin hará realidad su sueño de cambiar de sexo y ser “una mujer total”. Poco falta para operarse, pero requiere del apoyo de su familia.

Tras ver a la otrora hermosa “quinta” en completo deterioro y ocupada por un caótico tropel de hermanos, cuñadas y sobrinos, a Cheila se le develarán duras verdades que la harán replantearse la relación consigo misma y con su familia, al descubrir la mayor pobreza de la que adolecen: el desamor, la intolerancia y la mezquindad.
