Julie's boyfriend Ismael lives with her; rather than worry about the time he spends with his colleague Alice, Julie invites Alice to join them. The three walk the streets of Paris, party, read, and sleep together. Sometimes it's lighthearted, sometimes there are jealousies. Then death strikes. In various ways, those left come to terms with the departure and absence of a loved one: showing concern, eating together, attempting new relationships, trying to 'be there' for the other. Then, the spirit returns and new commitments are possible. The romantic elements of musical comedy play in contrast to the ambivalence of the lyrics and the story.

Taew, Cartoon, Mot-dum and Songkram are four aging-yet-still-outrageous katoey (drag queens) who run a boarding house for boys in provincial Thailand. After helping to cover up the mysterious deaths of two local teens (obese ladyboy 'Pancake' and a beautiful local girl named Num-Ning), the two spirits begin haunting the dormitory, forcing the 'girls' to try all sorts of crazy schemes to get rid of the ghosts. Eventually, they realize that the only way to do this is to help one the ghosts to avenge their deaths.

Pierre (Nolot) is a one-time gigolo reflecting on a life of wild parties, multiple boyfriends and hedonistic impulses in present day Paris. His attempts to complete a book are constantly derailed by numerous visits from hustlers and a heavy writer’s block. Embarking on a series of visits to see friends old and new, Pierre attempts to piece together memories of the past and future prospects, all through the lens of an ever deepening solitude. He and married, closeted friend Jacques (Pommier) compare the price of flesh and gossip about financial security. Psychiatrist Manosky (Kessler) listens to his complaining about the endless medication he must take. He tells lunch partner Paul (Rioufol) that his rich benefactor passed away without leaving him anything in his will. Finally, it is a discussion about the desires of rent boy Marc (d'Asnières) that lead Pierre’s life in a totally different, but not entirely unexpected, direction.
